Enhancement in quality & productivity of paddy crop

Objective The Project activities have started from April-2016, initially village-wise farmers of Mayurdar GP have been provided trainings on “Best Practices of Paddy Cultivation” before the land preparation for Paddy cultivation. Quality foundation seed of Paddy (Medium duration variety (Lalat), Long duration variety (Rani) and Scented variety (Ketaki Johar) have been arranged and distributed to farmers. Farmers were imparted trainings on every step of paddy farming from sowing to harvesting.

SectionFacilitating farming in Rabi season

Objective Under this project, farmers are being encouraged for multi-cropping (Farming in Rabi season). Various issues for single cropping pattern have been identified by B2V. To resolve those issues, technical institutions, Agriculture Universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and government departments are being involved. Vegetable seeds such as Bottle gourd, Chilly, Okra, Brinjal, Bitter Gourd and Cucumber were distributed to beneficiaries for kitchen garden. Good variety of mustard seeds also arranged for farmers.

Climate Change Project for 6 watersheds for SOOVA, Odisha

Objective The main approach is not only make communities aware of climate change scenario, but also help them to adapt the changing climate situation and enhance their income through new livelihood opportunities.

Various activities under Soil & water conservation, Soil improvement, Natural resource management, and Knowledge management, capacity building of communities have been planned with the consent of communities. These activities if executed, it will not only make communities aware of climate change scenario, but also help them to adapt the changing climate situation and enhance their income through new livelihood opportunities. Multi-disciplinary team having experience in rural development was formed for the planning. The planned activities were verified by NABARD executives and later it was sanctioned by NABARD head office, Mumbai.

Saayan Swadhyaay Kendra (SSK) at villages Kumudasola and Banpokharia

Objective To encourage the self-study habit of children and community education, back to Village started two Sayaan Swadhyaay Kendra in tribal villages for children from class I to class VI.

Expected Outcomes To encourage the self-study habit of children and community education, back to Village started two Sayaan Swadhyaay Kendra in tribal villages for children from class I to class VI. Qualified teachers from village itself have been selected to guide. Necessary facilities such as seating mats, bulbs, emergency lights, fans and drinking water have been arranged for the classrooms. Teachers are imparted trainings for better handling of centres. Books are also arranged for children by collection and donation. Back to Village get help of their network to arrange funding for the centres.We have received good response from both the centres, around 20-25 children come to the centres regularly for study and clarification of their queries.

Promotion of Organic Farming

Objective Under this project, village-wise trainings on various topics of Organic Farming have been provided to farmers. Farmers’ response was quite good in all the training sessions. Many of them are interested to adopt organic farming if technical assistance provided to them properly. Farmers were imparted training on liquid manure, composting, organic pesticides, mulching, crop rotation, multi-layer farming etc.
